Mystic Unity preparation and aftercare.
A great spray tan depends as much on timing and skin preparation as it does on the booth. Use this guide before every session so color develops more evenly, rinses correctly, and fades more cleanly.
Your result begins before the appointment.
Clean skin, smart timing, and simple aftercare protect the final color.

Prepare the skin early whenever possible.
Exfoliate evenly
Use a gentle, oil-free exfoliating method, paying extra attention to elbows, knees, ankles, and dry areas.
Shave or wax
Complete hair removal 24 to 48 hours before the appointment when possible so the skin has time to settle.
Plan other services first
Schedule massage, facials, sauna, workouts, red light, waxing, and exfoliating services before Mystic Unity.
Confirm event timing
Do not make an important event your first trial. Learn your preferred depth and rinse schedule first.
Arrive clean, dry, and product-free.
- Shower early enough for the skin to be fully dry.
- Do not apply lotion, oil, deodorant, perfume, or body makeup.
- Avoid heavy sweating immediately before the appointment.
- Bring loose, dark clothing and easy footwear.
- Remove jewelry before entering the booth.
Aggressive scrubbing immediately before a spray tan can irritate the skin and create uneven absorption. Preparing the day before is generally better.
Protect the tan while it develops.
Avoid water
No showering, rain, swimming, hot tubs, or accidental splashing before the instructed rinse time.
Avoid sweat and heat
Skip exercise, sauna, hot yoga, red light, and heavy sweating until after the first rinse.
Avoid friction and products
Wear loose clothing and do not apply lotion, perfume, oil, or deodorant unless specifically instructed.
Follow the exact timing provided for your session.
Use lukewarm water
Avoid a very hot, prolonged shower.
Rinse gently
Do not scrub, exfoliate, or use a rough washcloth.
Expect bronzer runoff
Temporary surface bronzer may rinse away while developed color remains.
Pat dry
Avoid aggressive towel friction after rinsing.
Moisture and gentle care support a cleaner fade.
- Moisturize daily after the first rinse.
- Use gentle body cleansing.
- Limit friction from tight clothing when possible.
- Avoid body retinoids, strong acids, and aggressive exfoliation.
- Swimming, soaking, and frequent hot showers may shorten wear.
- Book future exfoliating or heat-based services after the color cycle when possible.
Mystic Unity usually goes last.
| Service | Best timing |
|---|---|
| Workout, sauna, heated lounger | Before the tan or after the first rinse |
| Red + near-infrared light therapy | Before the tan, after screening, with time for skin to return to a comfortable, dry state |
| Facial, Glacē, Glacial RX | Before the tan |
| Massage or bodywork | Before the tan |
| Waxing or shaving | Preferably 24 to 48 hours before |
Complete your light session before Mystic Unity.
When both services are booked during the same visit, complete red and near-infrared light therapy first. Allow the skin to return to a comfortable, dry state, then follow all Mystic Unity preparation instructions. The spray tan should generally be the final body service.
Review Red Light TherapyDo not use red light while color develops.
After Mystic Unity, avoid heat, sweat, friction, and additional services until after the instructed first rinse. Schedule any later light session according to Solterra guidance.

Preparation and aftercare FAQs.
Can I shower before my appointment?
Yes. Shower early enough for skin to become fully dry, then avoid lotion, deodorant, perfume, oil, and body makeup.
Can I exfoliate the same day?
Gentle preparation is better than product buildup, but aggressive same-day exfoliation may irritate the skin. The day before is preferable.
Can I wear leggings afterward?
Loose clothing is safer. Tight waistbands, leggings, socks, and restrictive shoes may create friction or uneven development.
How long will the tan last?
Wear varies by skin, solution, showering, swimming, friction, exfoliation, and daily moisturizing. A specific duration cannot be guaranteed.
What if I see streaks during the first rinse?
Surface bronzer can look uneven as it rinses. Rinse gently and allow the developed color to settle before evaluating the result.
Can I use acids or retinoids?
Avoid strong exfoliating products on areas where you want to preserve color. Facial skincare may cause facial color to fade faster.
